Jack Tie Down

Can someone take a picture of what the jack is supposed to look like when tied down in the trunk? Mine is loose - and while surrounded by padding still rattles and bangs whenever I go over any bumps in the road.

Here you go. The exposed bolt end of the jack is towards the front of the car, inserted in the round hole up on the fender. This tool kit is not the original, but it's the same size. (The original is stored except for shows.) You need a rubber strap with rectangular rings on each end, to go around the tool box and the jack, holding them both secure.

Make sure you have that jack strapped in there. I did'nt have a proper fitting one and the jack must have come loose,cause a couple of hard left turns the end of the jack slamed into the inside of the fender and I now have a couple of "outie" dimples on the fender. Getting quotes on the fix the next couple of days.

Aha - I'm missing the little rubber strap!! Is the tool kit a Fiat item? Don't have one of those either. What's in it?

If you don't have one, you'll need a much shorter rubber strap.

Since your car is a later model, I would guess that the jack may be stored similar to Peter's, but I thought you might want to see an alternate solution,

Thanks, all. In looking at the pictures, I realize that not only do I not have a tool kit, I don't have a tire iron as well. Going to be tough to get those wheel nuts off without one. I think I will have to make my own little kit up and strap it in nice and tight!!

There is always Fiat tool kits for sale on Ebay .... keep an eye out !

Unless you're an 800 lb gorilla, you'll want a longer wheel bolt wrench than the one in the standard tool kit - it's only about 8" long! I keep mine with the spare tire.

Who needs a longer tire iron? I'm a 160lb chimp and I have no problem breaking loose wheel bolts with my handy dandy stock fiat tire iron. If you can't pull it, jump on it!
