Side/Door rear view mirror

Post by wachuko »

Has anyone installed these side mirrors? Adjustable mounting holes. Waiting on the vendor to have them available for sale (missed it by a few weeks...). But would like to see if anyone here got them installed and could share their feedback on it.

Nice looking mirrors! I really need to replace the one on my 71. I can't adjust the original style enough to use it and it didn't come with a passenger side mirror.

I initially saw them here in the forum. Someone shared the link to the ebay listing...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT

and then found them from a vendor in the UK: http://www.classic-car-accessories.co.u ... IOR_8.html

But was wondering if anyone here had taken the plunge...

Those were out of stock today when I went to order them @#$%#@$%... :?

Ended up ordering one like this... let's see what it looks like once it gets here:

Exterior wing mirror: die-cast chrome arm/bright stainless steel head; including mounting gasket and fixing bolt. This beautifully crafted "Ital" style or Italian style mirror has a 115mm round head with convex mirror, 90mm x 30mm base incl. Gasket and is fixed by a single 6mm bolt and a 5mm location pin, 28mm apart. Not Handed.

Ordered from here: Classic Car Accessories out of the UK.

I will keep searching for alternatives if this one does not work out.

Yup. The more I look at it the more I like it as well. Plus it comes with a convex mirror. Should be better than the flat mirror that comes with the other one...

All in all, it was US$40.16 for one shipped.

Look what just showed up! I like it!! This is the look I wanted. And don't ask if it works, hahahaha :) I need to install the seat to check how effective it is. But it has a nice looking convex mirror... seems it will work perfectly.

I used a big flat washer and installed the pin in one of the existing holes with the bolt and big washer in the big center hole where the cable/adjuster used to be...

I like them! Now, find me some that are a bit more vintage looking for my 71. If there is one thing on my Spiders that need to be changed from original, it would be the outside rearview mirror. They just don't adjust enough for me to see out of them. My 72 came with a set that makes it easier to see:

Denise,

That is the style I was looking for. If someone finds them, please share. I will use this one just on one side until I can find a set like the one on your 72. Thank you!

Since Randy (BEEK) was stopping by Saturday I installed the driver's seat and took the car for a drive around the neighborhood.

Keep in mind that this is my first Spider, initial impressions is how far back the rear view mirror sits compared to my other cars, but after adjusting the mirror the view is great.
