Remove front seats
Remove front seats
I am trying to remove my front seats (78 124 Spider). I can see the screws on the back rails, but can't see any screws on the front rails. I have the seat all the way back. Any suggestions? I read where another owner had the same issue, but ground off the stops to allow the seat to go back farther. Not sure I want to do that.
Re: Remove front seats
there are four screws per seat. Make sure the screws are all the way in or out. Partially in or out stop the rail from sliding the rail all the way. Make sure you lube the rail up so they can slide all the way.

Re: Remove front seats
I had this issue the other day and even pounding on the seat tracks I could not get to the front passenger bolts. I was getting pretty frustrated and undid the seat tracks to the bottom of the front of the seat then undid the bolts at the back that bolt to the floor.........Light bulb went off as I now remembered this from my other Fiat years ago:
There are limiting plates that bolt under the rear track to stop travel backwards ( for some odd reason? safety?).
So to get to the front bolts you need to first remove the rear seat to floor screws then the plates will come out then you will be able to slide the seat back to get access to the rear. No hammer needed

Re: Remove front seats
It must be on later year models. I've pulled plenty of seats from 72's and earlier and haven't run into this plate. I learn something new every day!

Hummm, I've removed seats from an '81 & '82 and mine didn't have it.

when i removed my seats i didn't have plates but i also had no real interior.
but i did have to sit in the seat and put my feet on the floor board and push pretty flippin hard to make them go all the way back. this was an 81

Not yet. I think I am going to wait until I have two full days to pull the seats and replace the carpet. Will let you know how it goes!SLOSpider wrote:Well Itsa, did that fix your seat problem?
