Dropping gearbox
Dropping gearbox
Does anyone know of its possible to remove the gearbox from underneath the car, I have to replace my clutch fork and don’t want to pull the whole engine again.

Of course it is. And relatively easy to do. That is how I removed the gearbox from my parts car.swede wrote:Does anyone know of its possible to remove the gearbox from underneath the car, I have to replace my clutch fork and don’t want to pull the whole engine again.
Need to remove the shift boot and knob, unplug the reverse light connector, disconnect the drive shaft, remove starter, cover to the flywheel, etc... I had the use of a lift, so I just placed a table under the car and with the use of a transmission lift, lowered it down. But same can be done on jack stands.

Yeah very easy It´s still in place since I cant reach one of the top starter bolts.wachuko wrote: Of course it is. And relatively easy to do. That is how I removed the gearbox from my parts car.
Was forced to take some rest before jumping on this again tomorrow, I need to have everything done by next week.
The Spider needs to be done so I can go to the annual Italian Car Meeting 1st of May.

I should have provided more details... it is fairly easy, just need to make sure you have the right tools from the get go...swede wrote:Yeah very easy It´s still in place since I cant reach one of the top starter bolts.wachuko wrote: Of course it is. Re: Dropping gearbox
Thanks wachuko that was just the tools I used to get it off, finally.
The clutch fork is replaced and the gearbox back in place and all wires etc will be connected tomorrow.
Ones everything is back in place it will be a test drive around the neighborhood, just need to bleed the brake lines first.
I might just make it in time for the meeting.
