The car: 1971 Fiat spider 124 (1608)
What I have done:
1.) Pulled the radiator out ( it was leaking) had it repaired. Bad seam and leaking around the fan motor thermoswitch.
2.) Pulled belt cover off and inspected belts, and seals (all good)
3.) Sanded, rust protected and painted engine bay ( stuff from eastwoods)
4.) Cleaned all electrical wiring
5.) Put radiator back in - hooked everything back up and filled radiator. Before hooking the top hose from T back to radiator I top it off with antifreeze and hooked it back to the radiator.
6.) Put on a new thermostat.
7.) I started the car and let it run to it reached about 195 degrees, but the fan motor did not come on. Thinking I made a mistake I switched the wires going to the thermoswitch. Checked radiator and topped it off just a little. Started the car again and let it run to it reached about 195 degrees, but the fan motor did not come on.
8.) I do have a toggle switch that he PO put in to turn the fan motor on. I let the car stay on and turned on the fan motor, but the engine did not cool down.
9. I checked the top two hoses and they were cool and so was the radiator and cap. I took the cap off and check the antifreeze and it was cool also. However, the hose between the water pump and thermostat was warm/hot.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. If anyone could help I would be very thankful.
Thanks,
Kafer

Ron - I'll take a hot toddy, thank you. It's been +6 C with drizzle all day here (like 42 F) and I was outside at the track On second thought, it wasn't so bad
