I had previously replaced the fuel line and drained the tank to get rid of any old fuel and bad line and was on to the carb issues. Found the rebuild kit at a local import shop so I went to town on the carb. Got it all cleaned and back together and she fired right up and sounded 90% better

Decided then to tackle the fuel gauge issue, pulled the sending unit from the tank to find the ethanol demons had done their job

Wife is stoked and ready to roll to work a couple days a week with the top down. Mission accomplished.
