Good Vinyl Adhesive for Convertible Tops?

Post by johnbuckley »

Anyone got a recommendation on a good vinyl adhesive for reparing a vinyl convertible top? I am replacng it some time this year but have a tear through the plastic window and some of the fabric. Needs to last about 6 months and stand up to opening and clsosing. Appreciate any advice. Thanks

Shoe goo? good idea Trey. I tried repairing the torn window and top on mine when I first got it and could never find anything that would seal well enough for a long term fix. I drove it for a month or so after patching it with a silicone adhesive covered with a duct tape patch. It looked so bad I ended up just dropping the cash for a new one.

Thanks to both of you. I'll see if I can find some and give it a try.

rubber cement - kinda like when you patched inner tubes when you were a kid
liquid tape- from the Home Depot, quite strong and permanently flexible,
