Steve, that looks great.. well done. The carpet is something I should look into for a car here.
Have any idea when its going to be on the road (getting antsy) or just plucking away at it as time sees fit?
I don't mind the dash at all. I know what you mean by the pieces not lining up and my glove box works but could be better I suppose.
Keep us posted on the progress.

Rolling restoration. I drive her to work every day.narfire wrote:Have any idea when its going to be on the road (getting antsy) or just plucking away at it as time sees fit?
Thanks for the compliments.
Still on the list:
- Get the heater working. Not real cold here, but need the defogger occasionally.
- Shocks and fix the differential oil leak (shocks will be here on the 17th).
- Center console - making my own.
- Minor body work, and then DIY paint.

I like the way your dash turned out. I think the way you did it makes sense and keeps everything lined up nice. You get three atta boy's for a job well done.

Re: Fiasco II Restoration
Did the trunk today. Not a big job, nor particularly involved, but one that I've been meaning to get to, and am glad to have done.
Here's what I started with.
Cut two boards. The one on the left goes over the gas tank and has a lip that supports the edge of the one on the right that goes over the spare tire.
Boards installed.
Carpet installed.
And one of my favorite features of the Fiat 124 Spider. A full set of clubs in a cart bag slips right into the trunk.

Luan for the boards. Indoor/outdoor carpet from Lowes. Same carpet I used in the interior. So Cal Mark wrote:very nice, what material did you use?
It's pretty inexpensive carpet ($19 for a 6' x 8' roll), and may not have a very long shelf life, but it looks very nice, and since this is my first time doing it, I expected to learn some things from the experience and want to do it again fairly soon. I was right - for instance, I should have done one-piece instead of two on the driver and passenger floors. I bought a second $19 roll of the stuff to do the trunk, and have enough left on that roll to redo the floor pieces in the cabin. I'd say its probably 1 to 2 year carpet, but the replacement job was really very easy, so doing it again in a year or so with some nicer carpet will be no big deal.

Digging around the site for tips REMOVING my hazard switch (i saw the repair post, genius), and stumbled acrost this.
Just had to post to admire the work on that dash. Your gadget mount and re-done switches are fantastic looking.
Just wanted to post to say 1)awesome, and 2)you should totaly post a even MORE detailed walkthrough on this if you can its really great. Maybe put up an instructable on it and cross-post.

Thanks. In a few days, I hope to be able to post pics of the matching center console I'm almost finished building.
