the Spider and the TR are both just sitting.... waiting... haven't touched either in over a MONTH!
Wait so your other car IS a testarossa? Throw a pic up man! I love those things (the more recent version more so than the original but both are beautys)
Maytag, Have you had the pleasure of doing a brake job on that Brit-box yet? A female friend at work had a Discovery and asked me how much I thought a pad and rotor change would cost. I said it shouldn't be more than $100 per wheel and that would be on the high end. She said she got quotes from $800 to $1200. I thought she was being ripped off because she was a girl. I said just buy the pads and rotors and I'll do it on a Saturday.
Turns out the front brake rotors are bolted to the BACK of the hubs. The rear rotors are bolted to the BACK of the axle flanges. You have to pull the whole axle 1/2 shafts out of the differential to get the damn rotors off. The fronts you have to take the drive axle out of the hub and then remove the hub to unbolt the rotor from the back.
3 trips to 2 different auto parts stores to buy "special" sockets and one large front hub nut socket. and 6 hours later it was done.
This is a procedure that I have been developing for a little while on how to post pictures here in the Forum. Hope it is useful, and comments are always welcome.
HOW TO POST PICTURES IN FIATSPIDER.COM
Well that picture-posting thing sure is confusing. Took me forever to figure it out. Here is what I do:
First, you must post your pictures on photobucket.com or one of the similar competing websites. You can't post pics directly from your computer. So set up a free account there first. The instructions here reference photobucket.com.
Then in your FS.com post, look for the "Img" box at the top of the post, #9 from the left in the row of command icons.
Put the cursor where you want the pic to appear in the post (leave a few spaces after text is a good idea) and click the "Img" button/icon above.
Then go to the photobucket.com site (or competitor) and find your pic. Hover the cursor over the pic and a drop down menu will appear. Then click the "Direct Link" or similar button. In Photobucket, it will respond with a "copied" indication.
Go back to your FS.com post and make sure the cursor is EXACTLY in between the 2 Img boxes: then right click and hit "paste" and the web link for the pic will show up in between the 2 img boxes. DON'T hit the IMG button a second time. MOVE your cursor out of the IMG info you just created before you hit enter.
Now when you post the post, the pic will be there!
Remember that if you delete the photobucket "master" pic, it will no longer appear in the posting here on FS.com
Also: there is a size limit to the pictures that can be displayed here, I think it is 750 pixels in width, someone correct me if I am wrong. So you may need to resize (typically downsize) the pics so that they fit properly and all of the pic is displayed and not cropped. What I do is really simple: I email the original picture to myself within AOL. AOL will automatically prompt you to see if you want the picture "optimized". Say "yes" and send this new pic to yourself. I then save it with a "small" addendum to the picture name and put this optimized picture up on photobucket. It works every single time like a charm.

Almost have her all back together after upgrading to 32/36 carb, 4-2-1 exhaust & elect ign, plus new timing belt, all new hoses, removed all emissions & timing cover.....& cleaned everything!
I still have the exhaust & radiator to go in, but should be up & running tomorrow.
Thought I would give y'all a peek at my progress, clean & pretty.
this is my 1970 1438 that I bought new in October of 1969 and have owned ever since. I just recently finished rebuilding the engine myself and got it running after sitting for five years or more. As you can see I polished out the cam tower covers and and added a pertronix ignitor and electronic fuel pump. It starts without priming and runs like a rolex watch.
I am now working on the interior and will post pix later on that. I probably should do the paint and body before the interior but oh well ........next step is to put a new windshield in it. I have the dash out so the windshield should be easier to handle with it out. Has anybody here replaced their own windshield without professional help. They sell the windshield seal on International-autos site..............but that glass I don't know where the do it yourselfer would go.
very nice. I like it.
But have you seen the old "Gumball Rally"? there's a scene where two guys are laying under the Jaguar in the garage, where everyone else started the race from several hours previous.
One says to the other: "It's a handsome design"
with the reply: "I wish it ran".
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
Last night I actually put into gear, drove out into the driveway and then back into the garage. Baby steps! All the gauges are now functional (except the damn low oil light...cause somewhere I wired it to ground This weekend is the trial run around the block after I burp the system and do a final adjustment of the new clutch.
