Well then, if you don't need the map light to be wired to the courtesy lights, maybe you could convert it to LED with a coin cell or AAA. Battery lifetime would outlast the rest of the car. Pictures of the assembly?

Thanks, Mike. If you need any help in calculating the electrical values for the LED circuit, drop me a line.

I wonder if anybody already makes an aftermarket inside rear-view mirror with battery LED or incandescent lighting?
