US vendors have 3 or 6 month guarantees...
The only way to know the quality of something for sure is to try it out. So for me to know that something will last 2 years and 50k km, I have to drive it for that long, or find somebody who will. However, since hardly anybody daily drives these cars any more, it takes a long time to go 50k km.
I put bushings in my friend's car over 2 years ago, and they are fine, but he put less then 20k km on the car in that time.

I drive mine daily, can I do some product testing? haha. There is actually an interesting thread over on Mirafiori.com regarding some typical failures of the lower arms. One instance could be attributed to a poor design, and another instance due to a manufacturing process.

Inspecting used A-arms

Post by rridge »

If you decide to rebuild your existing A-arms rather than buy new ones you need to clean and carefully inspect them for prior damage and then avoid damaging them yourself as you install new bushings. Here's a direct link to the pictures Matt is referring to:

Great link Richard. Always important to carefully inspect. It's especially important to not damage the lower a-arm during pressing. Since you have to press the second bushing in with the spindle installed, it's very easy to bend the arm. I pressed one side in first, then pressed it out and pressed the other side in. Then I installed the spindle and previously pressed bushing in. This "prepped" the difficult side and made it easier to re-press without deforming. I still used a piece of hardwood cut to the length between the arm ends to help prevent deforming.

I finally wrapped up my project this weekend. Completed the other side a-arms, bj's and tie rods last weekend but realized I had a blown shock. Ordered all 4 and installed them yesterday. Off for an alignment this week.

Yes Kent, both upper and lowers. I would not hesitate to do it again when it comes time.

As I said, there is only one company making them any more. You get the same thing, no matter where you buy it.
