Hi guys, thought I'd share a recent experience. I decided I wanted to restore the chrome finish on my driver side tail light on my 1971 124 Spider. My passenger side one was in perfect shape, so didn't want to have to buy 2 of the later model ones for $300 a pop. I searched and searched and finally found a place in Florida called Custom Coatings. I UPS'd the tail light to them and about 3 weeks later, got it back looking brand new. They repaired cracked plastic, even filled in a missing gap, then re-chromed it, all for about $180. Unbelievable job. Here are a couple of pictures. The 1971/1972 tail lights are impossible to find these days, so it is great to have this option and thought people might like to know about it.
Those sure look better than mine, I peeled off the flaking chrome, J.B. Welded the cracks and sprayed them with black wrinkle paint. Only $15.00 investment, though!
