Manual window regulator cable is frayed and off track

Hi
My window regulator cable that is coming out of the regulator is frayed and bent and pretty much off the whole track. The window does not work. Does anybody have a step by step way I might go about replacing the cable? Or simply getting it back on track (though I think the cable is shot). Any helpful diagrams? I searched before but the one link was a deleted photo.
