sending units on cylinder head

Post by donm »

I have 2 single wire sending units on the head of my carbed '80 Spider. What are they each for? Someone told me the front one is emmisions related and the second one triggers an overheat light on my dash but I have no such light. Can someone shed some light here for me?

one is the temperature gauge. and im not sure what the other one does. i don't think it has anything to do with emissions though.

Don,
the overheat light is built into the temp gauge, the gauge will peg and the light will come on.

Do you know which sending unit that one is? What is the other one for?

if you pull both sending units from the head the one with the flat bottom is the switch, the one with the smaller extension on the bottom is the resistor. the wires can be on either as one works the guage and the other just peg's it, the switch just grounds the guage as a failsafe
