Well, the weather in the Seattle area has been really terrific lately so I have been out driving around alot. A couple of new problems have cropped up that I'm hoping to get some advice on.
The first one is the radiator. When I replaced the head gasket I pulled the radiator out. What has happened is the little stub of metal for the overflow tube has come loose and fluid is dripping out when the engine gets hot. My question is, if I clean the parts can I solder that with regular solder or does it need to be braised? I'd like to just drain out enough fluid to clear the neck and not have to pull it out of the car.
The other thing that has happened is when I lower the drivers side window it makes a loud click about halfway down. When I crank it back up it gets stuck in about the same postion and I have to give it more pressure. It make another louder click and snaps up a little real fast. Any idea whats going on there? Are the parts behind the mysterious panel difficult to repair or replace? On the topic of windows the passenger side window has always made a scraping noise like something is cutting the glass but there is no damage to the glass.
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Re: Radiator repair and window operation
Not sure about the rad, but the door/window is easy to access. Take a look around the bottom of the door panel... phillips screws...door opening handle... phillips... take the plastic chrome bit off from the top of the door handle... and two more reccessed holes under and...phillips. The window crank has a retainer clip and when you slightly pry back the plastic spacer you can see it.
So with phillips in hand ..have at-er. It should come off as one, with the top piece as well. Behind there are large access openings for you to see what is going on while winding the window up and down. 4 sip job getting the door panel off.
Now if it is still in original state I believe there might be clips insted of the screws and would have to carefully pry the panel

Re: Radiator repair and window operation
Thanks for the tip about removing the door panel. My door panels are srewed on so most of it was a breeze. I have never removed a window crank before but I was able to push in the door panel far enough to see the clip you were refering to. It came off fairly easy just by pushing on it with a screw driver. I removed the insert covering one of the holes in the door and as soon as I rolled the window up I saw the problem. The bar from the door handle to the door latch has a bend in it and the nut that holds the cable at the bottom of the window was catching on it. Here is a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08h8hy6EJUk
I was able to straighten it out with a couple of pliers so now no more clicking. Thanks for the advice.
As for the radiator, I was able to resolder the nipple back into the neck. I built up the edge with a little extra solder to give it more support.
