Rocky Mountain / Midwest region event interest?

Hey all!
So, I've been watching the whole FFO and Dixie FiatFest posts and wishing I lived a little closer. I'm wondering how many others may be in the same boat?

If I were to plan a similar event to Denise's Dixie FiatFest in the Rocky Mtn Region for summer 2012, how many would be interested in attending?

I have a couple of ideas, but much of it would depend on the interest level. Denver would probably be closer to a lot of you, but in Salt Lake, we have the benefit of having Miller Motorsports Park (http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/) and we could include some activities there (again, depending on interest level).

Post-up if you think you'd be interested? otherwise... I need to figure-out how to get out to NC next year!

I might go if it was in Denver. Not because I live there (I'm in Seattle) but because that's where my roots are. It would be a fun road trip.

I would definately be interested! Denver or Salt Lake.

That sounds like a vacation plan to me! Take a week & hit the road.

There is really no reason the FFO can't be held out west. It would just take a lot of commitment from those that would want to sponsor the event. The only problem as I see it is that we are spread out a lot more than the folks back east.
And if we're just throwing out locations, I'm partial to Durango.

The drive to from TX to NC or TN about the same as the drive to UT or CO from TX. However, the drive from places like NY, NJ, OH, PA, MI to a location on such as NC or TN draws more people. It is a big plus when you can get more than 50 car to an event. Most likely not going to make it but love the idea.

Miller is awesome, but High Plains Raceway, about an hour east of Denver isn't too shabby. And there's always the track down in Colorado Springs.

There are a lot of Fiats and Alphas running Denver I've discovered.

A summer drive from Oregon to Colorado next year for a Fiat event would be a grand vacation. Put me down as "very interested."

Of course I'm prejudiced, but the Canaan Valley FFO sponsored by DC Fiats was reportedly one of the best ever. A ski resort makes for the perfect venue:

(1.) Uncrowded in the summer, when the BOD insists on holding the event.
(2.) Cooler temperatures in the mountains.
(3.) Typically ... great twisty roads nearby, but still close to an Interstate for popularity.
(4.) Off-season rates, and a more-lenient attitude from the hotel.

All of which makes for an enticing Rocky Mountain FFO! Hint: if you want Right Coasters to attend in numbers, pick a date a year in advance.

Colorado would work for me. And it would be great to have an FFO in cooler months. The drive from Texas to the east coast FFOs is brutal in July.

Remember that FFO began 25 years ago as a group of obscure enthusiasts camping in a state park. Family vacations were often planned around them. Of course, as we've gotten older, so have the children. I don't think there were 15 school-age kids in Nashville, and with FLU's courting of Nuevo owners, even fewer children will be attending in the future. Don't ask me why the BOD still schedules FFO in July. Debbie & I had a nice time, but skipped or shortened several events; it was too damn hot. We're going to try a vintage tour/rally in October 2012 instead.
