similar to the window crank... a kid in my house once needed to call a parent, so i pointed to the phone, a 1930's rotary dial beauty. stumped, the kid asked where the buttons were. "no buttons", i said, "just dial the number". the reply... "what do you mean dial?"
another kid wanted to know where the monitor was for the manual type writer. i blew their little minds when i cranked up the victrola.
