Extending the Duration of "New Posts"

I would like to request that the admin of this site extend the duration of which a post is present in the "new posts" section. I often find that I write a response to a discussion and within a few hours the post is gone from the "new posts" section, when it really should be there for a least a full 24 hours if not more. I also notice how the 'new posts' section never extends into 2 pages. Please make posts stay in the "new posts" section for at least 24 hours, preferable a few days. If posts had more time to be in the new section, I think we would get more people to see posts, resulting in more thorough discussions, and a greater volume of input from members who are not on the forum every day.

I didn't realize showing up under new posts was time based? I know if I don't view the site for a few days, there is a long list of posts showing up under New Posts. I thought once you view the new post page they are gone for you only ( cookie based?) the next time you come back unless they are commented on again?
