Steering wheel removal 78 Spider

Any videos or instruction out there on removing the steering wheel on my 78 Spider? I want to replace the gauge lamps. Or, is possible to pull the cluster out far enough to do it without removing the steering wheel or dropping it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, all!

On mine removing these 2 front bolts let me drop the steering wheel assembly down. Back 2 just locate the mounting bracket and don't need to be removed.

Thanks for the input. If I don't drop the steering wheel, do you know if the cluster will pull out far enough to replace the gauge bulbs? If not, I'll drop the steering wheel. Thanks again!

Yes, it does.

In fact, you can even remove the gauge cluster without removing the steering wheel or dropping it, but it is a bit challenging. You have to pull it out far enough to be able to get your hands in there to disconnect the speedometer cable and unplug all the connectors. The cable is usually easy enough, but the connectors can be really sticky and hard to pull apart if they have never been separated.

Once all the connectors are loose, the gauge cluster can be angled past the steering wheel, once you drop all the column levers to their lowest position. Go gently, as it is easy to snap a lever or do other damage. Sometimes you need to remove the upper and lower plastic covers for the steering column for an extra 1/4" clearance or so.

But to just change some bulbs, you don't have to take the dash out.
