Re my 1975: I have 3 levers for cabin heat and air flow. Two to the left of the emergency brake and one to the right (defroster).
I thought… to have fresh air and heater off, the two levers on the left should be forward (towards dashboard). My mechanic says for heat to be off they should be pulled back. Which is it???
Defroster lever goes forward to be on correct?
And finally, lever on left does what exactly?
See, told you it was gonna be a dumb question.
I kinda recall a different set up on my 69 (levers on floor, heat was red)?

Look at the triangles (if they are still there) as they represent the amount or volume. Push the lever towards the thick part of the triangle and that is maximum. Towards the thin tip and that is minimum. Blue (closest to driver ) is about airflow. Red is about heat. So the picture below is how I set mine yesterday driving in 40 degree weather. Max heat and max airflow.

I have a picture with this info for when other family members drive the car. Levers are labelled from driver side to passenger side ("A" closest to driver).
Lever A: VOLUME of AIR
-- Down (towards floor) = Full Air into cabin
-- Up (towards roof) = NO air into cabin
Lever B: TEMPERATURE of AIR
-- Down = HOT
-- Up = NO hot air
(does NOT travel full range. Do NOT force!!!!)
Lever C: LOCATION of AIR
-- Down = Feet/floor area
-- Up = Defrost
ALL Levers are proportional (e.g. lever C in middle gives some floor and some defrost)
FAN switch (under handbrake lever) is 3 position: CENTER = OFF.
Fwd/Aft = Hi/Lo speed fan

I like that. The way that I've always remembered it is to follow the air flow from start to finish, and the levers for this start with the one closest to the driver: Lever closest to driver is how much air comes into the car, the middle lever is how much that air is heated (or not), and the furthest lever is where that air ends up (defroster or footwells).F16Waldo wrote:I have a picture with this info for when other family members drive the car.
