I am trying to get everything back In working order after a rubber flex disk broke.
The destruction was worse than I imagined.
Also finding many problems I did not know existed.
The wiring has been torn from drive shaft flailing or was never connected.
All 3 switches not connected
Wiring in this vehicle looks nothing like factory in general.
Available wires under dash:
2 purple wires to a female spare reciprical
Black wire and white and black wore to female spade reciprical
What I think I know
Looking for a white wire for reverse light?
Power wire?
Not sure what wires for side switch?
I this it is a idle switch for 3rd and 4th gear shifts?
Top switch - 2 black wires no idea

I posted pictures in Facebook and copied link.
I don't know how to post pictures
I really appreciate all the knowledge and help everyone has afforded me.
I grew up before days of the internet. Knowledge was much harder to come by. I know that you all take time out of.your life to help.
Sincerely thank you

Re: Rebuilding after Guibo Broke
Sorry to hear about the damage from the giubo... As for the wiring, this is a little puzzling as it's not matching what I have for the wiring diagram for a 1977. So, a few questions before I look into it some more:
Is your car really a 1977, or does it perhaps have a different model year transmission?
Is the car an automatic?
California or 49-state version?
Normally, a '77 would have a backup switch that has two parts: The backup switch with a light blue wire for power and a white wire which then goes back to the actual backup lights in the rear. It's complicated because the wires change colors at a connector to light blue/white and white. The backup switch also has a "5th gear engaged" function for the EGR, and those wires are red/black and the same same light blue wire for the backup (for power). Then there is another gear engaged switch that is light blue/white and green/white, again for the EGR.
Finally, there is a fast idle switch on the side of the transmission above the oil fill plug, and that has a single grey/yellow wire. This provides a higher idle speed under certain conditions.
The backup lights are the highest priority, and if by chance your emissions stuff has been removed, then the other items aren't really doing anything anyway and don't need to be reconnected.

Re: Rebuilding after Guibo Broke
Thank you so much for the help
I found a white wire - power probed +
One of reverse lights came one.
Then power probed a blue / white wire that gains voltage when ignition is turned on.
Both wires are looped under dash.
Many wires are held together by black tape so I am afraid to tug on (project for another day)
The side switch on the transmission. By the fill plug.
The one you said took only.ine wire.
Would that be good for me to track down and wire on?
For runnablity?
Thank you
Erich

When doing the timing belt, don't forget to time the auxiliary shaft in addition to the usual steps of crankshaft/cam pulleys timing.
