fuel line connection gismo's
fuel line connection gismo's
I'm sure this is an easy question for most but the 1st time I've run into it.My 82 fi spider has a leak in the fuel supply hose going to the fuel manifold. One end had a flared fitting the other has a barbed fitting and a collar. Does anyone know a trick in removal of the barbed end ? Will the reinstall be an issue without a clamp? Whats with the collar? all words of experience are helpful.

I don't think the barbed end is comming off without cutting the hose. I used an Exacto knife to cut the hose under the "hats". I think the "hat" might squeeze the hose a little bit to make it fit tighter. Make sure you use the proper high pressure F.I. hose, I bought mine from IAP, 7.5mm, but I think some have used 5/16, (8mm). I didn't want to take a chance with the barbed fittings, so I bought the correct stuff. You could use clamps if you wanted, but I don't think it's ever comming off of the barbed fittings. If you need to, you old lube the hose with fuel to make it easier to push on.

I cut the collars off, use a razor blade to cut the old hose. Make sure you use band-type clamps on the new hose rather than a screw-type clamp that cuts into the hose
Re: fuel line connection gismo's
Mark, are both of these clamps acceptable for fuel lines? The top one would be easier to install.

You mean fuel line, right? Top is fine, I guess the other would be OK if you had the proper tool to make sure it was attached correctly.
