roll bar users... gotta question

Post by mbouse »

gotta roll bar mounted in your Spider? do you use three point belts mounted to the stock locations?

if so... does your shoulder belt webbing travel inside the roll bar or outside? did you drill a hole and mount a 'D' ring to the roll bar?

On mine I used International Auto generic 3point replacement belts. The webbing travels to the inside of the bar. I used Brady's seat belt guides which improved the functionability dramatically. I did not put anything on the roll bar itself and used all the stock locations to mount.

Will do, Brady. I won't get home till bout 8:00 tonight so look for them later evening. Still haven't painted your guides yet,
not sure what I want to do with them. Save that for another thread.

here is the plan for consideration at this end...

floor mounted retractor instead of the PITA behind the rear seat back retractor. eliminates the nagging hang ups due to the seat back interference, and the webbing that gets in the way of an overstuffed parcel area (my wife travels well packed).

install the 'D' ring on the front face of the roll bar justabove shoulder height and eliminate the bracket on the front seat back. Yes...eliminate the Brady seat belt guide.

this will also eliminate any interference with the wind deflector netting that will be custom fitted into the roll bar.

whatcha think?

Mike,
I'm interested to know where your planning on mounting the retractor on the floor?

at a whopping 5' 7" american... i have plenty o room behind the driver seat when i'm driving. the Mrs. is shorter than i.

so... the answer to your question? on the floor behind the front seats, just like the 1978 dual retractor system....except new belts need only one retractor.

ask someone with stock 1978 belts to send you a picture. bunches of room for guys like me.
