I have been working on a long term project to basically '"resto-mod" a 79 Fiat Spider. I am finally to the point where I am having the body work and paint done. I showed my painter the rectangular black plastic adjustable mirror and he told me that it would be a crime to put it back on the car. So......can you all provide me with some mirror ideas, I am only going for the drivers side door and I was leaning towards stainless or chrome. I would like to find an adjustable one but not nessessary.
I am also looking at a dash mounted rear view mirror....just because the look cool!!
Pictures and supplier would be great!!

Here's a chevy mirror I got off ebay. I like the round and the chrome look.

I like those, I saw a set on the Jeg's site however it said it had the Chevrolet bow tie emblem on it. I like that the base is a similar shape as the door handles.
Thanks

55 Chevy mirrors, plastic, aftermarket. I bought them because I liked the looks of them from the outside. But after installing them and driving, they are hard to see what's coming from behind. I would not recommend them.
The vendors here have really nice ones that are kind of a rounded corner trapezoid looking. Vick's has this one.

I put on a pair of "bullet" style purchased from some British car vendor. Can't recall the name now.
They look good on classic Ferrari's, why not on our classic Fiats too?
(Damn it to he**, I wish I could figure out this damn picture posting crap!)
Good luck

I did see some round mirrors that Spider Point had for Alpha's they looked good however very minimal description, I definately want metal not plastic.

Re: Custom mirrors? Pictures?
I love the original Vitaloni on mine and wouldn't consider changing it. I do think it looks great and its period correct, but the more important reason it that it works so good. It looks small but it provides a perfect view backwards. Adjusts easily and accurately and doesn't vibrate. Its one of the little things on the Spider that is just a pleasure to use.
I've seen them mounted on the passenger side too, but thats just for "looks" as it would be useless over there without a convex mirror. On the Spider I've never missed the right side mirror, even with the top up. It's easy to check to the right and with the quarter window there's no major blind spot.
Not the greatest picture but you get the idea.
AR has a real nice looking repo.

Re: Custom mirrors? Pictures?
That must have been standard on the earlier cars, I have attached a picture of the mirrors that came on my 79. The good...clear field of view, cable adjustable with windows up....the bad......it's got no style!! Keep the ideas coming!! And again Thank You for your input!!

Re: Custom mirrors? Pictures?
I have been looking unsuccessfuly for a rectangular convex passenger side mirror to match the stock mirror on the driver's side. What I finally did was get a similar loooking mirror from Vicks and used some silicone to glue a convex bicycle mirror on the face of it. I really missed the better view the convex mirror offers and this works pretty well.
