I like to keep the engine bay looking good ,and looking at it the ugliest piece under there is the exhaust heat shield.Mine was discolored and pitted from years of use. I removed it and hit it with a wire brush followed by a light sanding. At Autozone I found VHT ''Flameproof header paint'' Silica/ceramic coating for $6.99. Guaranteed 1300-2000 degree.I got flat aluminum color.Stuff went on great ,followed instructions and ran it thru 2 heat cycles.I think it looks great ,and I am thinking of doing the whole manifold. Here is a pic.

looks good. Now, if I could figure out what to do with the hole for the warm air recirc. that comes out of the middle of mine, then I'd do it too. for now, I live without it....
I did mine also, Craig.
The product is VHT Silica-Ceramic coating, good for 1300-2000°. It's been on since I had the head off (unnecissarily) during my Oregon trip, and it still looks as good as when it went on.
I have to say though, you're engine bay looks a whole lot better than mine.
I need some time off.

That is the problem ,Ron. I have had way too much time off in the past 6 months! The slumping (dead) housing market has not done me much good.We are just hanging on with some remodels ,etc.. But hey ,the car is shaping up.

But I used a different product on the manifold called hi-temp Cast Blast from Seymour Paints. It is the same ceramic type paint, but looks like new cast iron. They sell it in both hi temp and regular versions, so make sure you buy the right one.

Hey John ,
in that second picture ,you may find you you are going to have trouble keeping it cool! It will be easier to burp the cooling system though.

that's it Mark! you have done it now. I have had enough of your poking fun at Crackle Paint! Sick and tired of it, i am.
you are hereby banished from any possible participation in the C.P.u.A. Crackle Paint Users of America will no longer tolerate this incessant badgering. i had thought of inviting you to our annual convention in Paint Town, NC this coming January. but since you cannot refrain from mocking us, i guess gentle persuasions to change your mind will not work.
nice looking engine bay Craig, and John.
Danno, those heat shields are interchangeable, and some don't have the risers.
ummm, I just meant that crackle/wrinkle paint should only be used on special projects, not just the everyday application. After all, it shouldn't be commonplace.
John, your turbo engine looks beautiful. Did you use the Eastwood spray on the metal spring parts to look like the yellow chromium coating? Again looks great
