I have a car with no keys...

I am taking the ignition switch to a locksmith monday to have keys made. I also used the drill-a-hole-behind-plates trick tonget into the trunk. Unfortunately in my haste and excitement, i pulled out the core of the trunk lock, which caused all the tumbles to fall out

I put it in a plastic baggie while i though about what to do, and put the baggie in the glove compartment


As i did, it hit me! The glove compartment is a locking unit, with a keyhole. Most glove compartments lock with the door/trunk key. Please tell me i can take the glove compartment knob to the locksmith and have a key made from it, which will then allow him to fix my trunk lock and will work on my doors

My trunk lock has been changed & I have a key for it but none for the original doors/glove box locks

Also, i would use the door locks but the armrest screws are seized and stripped. Ill have to drill them out but right now im concerned with getting the car started

No expert here, but i was told the glove box key is not the same as the doors or ignition, methinks a locksmith told me that, or maybe one of our wonderful board members.

The key for my 82 fits the trunk and the glovebox. I'm not sure you could use the glovebox lock to make a key from though, it's not much of a mechanism to scrape the marks onto the key blank a locksmith would need to do the job.

if you have those locks out, it's easy to key them all the same

Mark i have the trunk and glovebox, not door locks...should i just give in and drill out the door panel screws to get those locks out?
