32 ADFA Carb On 1975 124 Spider Gas Accumulating In Carb

Just finished a rebuild on a 32 ADFA Carb on a 1975 124 Spider car would start up every time with no issue's sense I've rebuilt the top half drove it about 4 or 5 times bought the carb used ran it as is, first i started getting the engine cutting off on me when going into 3rd gear like lost of power, after that happen a couple times figured it was time to rebuild the carb as it was going to have t happen sometime down the line anyways.

Rebuilt followed the steps installed over the weekend got it running again but after about 4 minutes started smelling gas this wasn't happen before which threw me for a loop, tracked down the gas smell seems it was coming from the bottom of the canister located in photo #1 so i unbolted the canister and also replaced the fuel line that connected there at the bottom along with the other (2) that's connected to the canister left the canister unbolted had my wife start the car so i could see what was happening in the canister area, seems maybe the hose fixed that issue, but now there seem to be gas accumulating in the carb on the opposite side of the choke side, car starts runs for about 2 minute slowly idles down then dies out, has anyone had this happen or is it possible somethings not working corrcetly.





I'm not sure if this little speed up control assy. piece should be pushed completely up or should it be as it looks in the photo below, if i push it up by hand it pops in then slowly pops back out not sure if it's working correctly or needs to be adjusted.



Also not sure if it could also be fast idle port that's the issue cause it's port not plugged or caped or connected to anything



I used this photo to run the carb when i first installed it, and used it cause there's no need for smog.

Got it going removed new float blow needle and housing on the right and inserted the old housing on the left and lowered float back down car ran for a good 10 minutes without any smell of gas or any gas filling up into the carb

the lower left vacuum nipple that you show as "plugged" should be connected to the crankcase breather tube. That is a calibrated vacuum source to help vent the crankcase. It's the port under the accelerator pump

Yeah i changed it the other day, thanks for all the help and support you guys give, can't wait to finish this project up here's the rims i purchase a couple months ago they are pretty sweet

Hey Mark do you have the rod that connects from the carb to the throttle pulley i purchase from you guys about 45 days ago lol it don't look the same cause i painted it but here's a picture of it along with the universal cable adapter i also pickup from you guys. Let me know and i'll give you guys a call and place a phone order for it

Sometimes the seat itself is bad on those float bowls; if you found one that seats then you're done, otherwise you may want to look for a new bowl lid.
