Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
Fiat 124 Spider 1975 with 32 ADFA Carb
Most of the Emissions stuff was removed before I bought it but I think the car needs the Fuel Vapor Canister to control the smell from the carb and fuel tank.
I am looking for a new canister but have found a used one for now. Does anyone know a source for new vapor canisters?
There is one hose from the trunk area (blocked off now) that ends on the drivers side of the engine bay, which I assume is the vapor lone for the fuel tank. A vacuum line goes from the intake manifold to the passenger side of the engine bay and is blocked off. Where is the Vapor Canister supposed to be? And what would a vacuum line from the intake manifold be doing on the passenger side of the engine bay?
Correct me if I am wrong but the Canister has 3 lines going to it, fuel tank, carb float bowl, and intake manifold or carb vacuum. Does any one have a diagram of how this is supposed to look?

i think the canister you are looking for is cylindrical, like a coffee can.
did you check with Bruce's ??

the vacuum line to the right side was intended for the air injection diverter valve. You're correct in the 3 lines to the cannister; one from the tank, one from the float bowl, both to send vapors to the cannister and one from a vacuum source to purge the cannister once the engine starts

In addition to the integrity of the rubber hoses and correct routing, the three major components of the evap system must all be functioning: the engine canister, the trunk canister (near the filler pipe), and the check valve (near the fuel tank). I know of no source for new parts for these items.

There is a guy on eBay selling n.o.s. rectangular platsic ones,(like on my 82) cheap. I'm not sure which style you need. I think I paid $10-15 bucks. I'm not sure if it's the same style yours takes.

Re: Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
well that rectangular one will work, but i believe it is for a two litre engine.. you'll need to fashion a bracket. the cylindrical canister had a plastic mounting bracket molded right to it.
Re: Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
I have found a Vapor Canister (round plastic canister with 3 ports) which has a mounting bracket as part of the canister. WHERE DOES IT GO? I assume based on the location of the original vapor hose that it mounts vertically, left side, to the right of the rad, under the horn air pump – but there does not seem to any spot to bolt it in. Is there a bracket missing? Does anyone have a picture?
Re: Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
The '75 I just parted out had a canister in the trunk by the filler neck. I don’t know if this is the one you are talking about but you may want to check there.
Re: Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
the vapor separator goes in the trunk, the cannister goes under the hood, in the left front corner
Re: Emissions stuff Vapor Canister
Just to let everyone know that I finally figured out why I was having difficulty installing the charcoal canister..
There was an after market Air Conditioner install and they moved stuff around to fit the compress in. The air pump for the horns was in the canister location.
Now that everything is in the right place it all fits.
Thanks Terry

Hello,
Newbie to this site and first time Fiat Spider owner. I believe I saw new vapor canisters on EBAY. You might want to check there.
