seriously? why the wussy engine ratings then? Get a 2L-T and you could be running 105hp/156lb-ft. got to be at LEAST as fun to drive as the stock specs.

It may be a myth, but it's a myth that you can have fun with!

really now, the best part of me is telling me to leave this thread alone, and let it just go away. but i find it really amusing. and i dont know why some people take such offense to someone not agreeing with them, or just having an idea thats 180 to thiers. individualty rules. and i dont think a 2 liter turbo only gets 105 hp.

well, just to keep it current and topical, why not swap in a 1L from a Geo Metro and get 50mpg?

No, what I was talking about was toyota's 2L-T, which is a 2.4liter diesel engine with a turbo on it. it's rated at 105hp, but check the torque specs, much nicer...

I think that Danzo70 is on the wrong website. I'm sure there are many for Toyota freaks.

Maybeee its an odd idea, but what the h eck, Dan can do to his car as he pleases, and I hope Dan is happy with his ride. I always wanted to do a "rat rod" just so I could not have any supposed rules, or "gods" to offend. Just rember, the finished product would not be a Fiat.

If i was going to do a motor swap I would ether swap it out to a small v 8(I just need to get out the really big shoe horn) or one of the mazda rotories.

I have kept quiet on this thread. I personally would never swap anything but a newer fiat engine into a fiat. Just as I would never put anything but a hyundai engine in my tiburon.

HOWEVER! I am in the process of finalizing my plans for my car, and they include a 16valve head from a Fiat Tipo ontop of my 1800 block. Not as strong as the 2.0 Turbo conversion from the Lancia Intergrale, but also less work and a lot more "traditional" in looks and soundwhen combined with ITBs. Plus it will have throttle response like nobody's business.

Never ever put down the engine in your fiat. Unlike ANY other manufactorer.. no one engine has spent more time on the top tier of the rally podium than the engines derived from the lowely 124 engine. From the first rally spiders (only overshadowed by the Stratos) to the 131 Rally, the Lancia 037, Lancia S4, and finally the Lancia Delta Integrale.. this engine has evolved from a small displacement overhead valve into a DOHC, Supercharged DOHC, Turbo Charged DOHC, and finally a 16v DOHC that was both turbo and normally aspirated from the factory.

Toyota may be cheaper to get parts for.. but the parts needed to make your fiat scream are out there, you just have to search for them.

If I had mega money to throw around I might like to put a RST V-8 in a Spider. ...J.D.
