Godd@mn squeaking!

Post by boogiedude »

I've recently developed a very annoying and persistent squeak over the past two weeks. Ive isolated it to the front drivers side suspension. It squeaks over every shift of the suspension over even the tiniest bumps in the road. I can't see anything that is rubbing, but it's something. I've gone through and sprayed all joints, and even the spring seats and the areas near them with pb blaster, but the best result that I've gotten was it quieting for about 10 minutes of use and then it returned.

Any ideas?

My upper and lower A Arm bushings were doing that on both sides of the car for a while. Super annoying. WD-40 and penetrating lubricant only kept it from sqeaking for a day or so. I ended up packing a crap load of bearing grease around all of the bushings and haven't had any problems since.

Where exactly did you pack it?

"Packing" was probably not the best term to describe what I did. It was more like... take a handful of bearing grease and smear it around every crack and crevice in front of and behind the upper and lower A-Arm bushings. Get it in as close to where the bolt/rod go through the bushings. I was pretty liberal with the application but tried not to put so much that it would be slinging off the suspension.

I was to the point of taking my suspension apart again to grease the inside of the bushings it was so annoying, but thankfully slapping the grease on worked and I haven't had a squeaky suspension since.

Good luck!

I use silicone grease and a syringe, (I can't bear to get everything all greasy again). You can get a syringe at the farm supply store, (or tweaker neighbor). I use Honda Shin Etsu grease that's made for rubber, (I work for a dealer):

It also works great on window run channels, when I got my Accord the power windows would barely go up and now they are fine.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll be picking up a tub of grease this afternoon and hopefully getting rid of this curse for good.

if that doesn't work, where can I find that grease? A Honda dealership?
