Is there any reason why I should NOT place my safety stands under the cross member in order to support the front end while it is lifted?

Our cross members are super strong when it comes to being supported by jack stands. It's only while we drive that we need to worry, lol.
Jokes aside, if we perform the regular maintenance by torquing all the suspension fasteners from time to time, we generally eliminate the chance that the notorious cracks develop.

That is the safest place to locate stands in the front however please place additional stands at other locations as backups for safety. On another forum a member just lost his father due to a jack stand failing and not having a additional stand in an alternate location to back it up.
