The red battery light on my dash comes on randomly for several days.
The light could stay off for weeks some times, then it returns.
When the red light is on, the alternator puts out around 12 v. but when the red light is off it puts out 13.4 v, anyone ever experience this? Battery tests good... alternator also tested good it was tested by a alternator rebuild shop in Danbury, CT..

Weak point of the Bosch alternators used on later Spiders is the voltage regulator module which also incorporates the brushes. If cleaning the contacts on the back of the alternator does not stop the problem, get a replacement regulator and install it yourself. Mounts with two machine screws on the back of the alternator. Easy access. Takes about 15 minutes. Disconnect the battery before starting. Main power lead on alternator is always hot.
